Nomination: Candidates are typically recommended by their respective Chinese schools based on their track record of volunteerism, both within the school (as teaching assistants or event coordinators) and in the broader community.
Key Qualities: Beyond just hours, the award looks for students who show:

- Cultural Pride through the study and promotion of Chinese language and heritage.
- Innovation in how they solve community problems or organize events.

As a dedicated member of both the Apex High School Marching Band Color Guard and Felton Grove High School Winterguard, Liana Li demonstrates exceptional discipline and teamwork in competitive environments. Beyond the performance floor, she maintains an active lifestyle through volleyball, skiing, and ice skating. Her creative side is equally developed, spanning fine arts to a deep appreciation for music and Chinese media.
